Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud is a Saudi politician and the current King of Saudi Arabia. He was born on December 31, 1935 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Salman hails from the powerful House of Saud, which has ruled Saudi Arabia since its foundation in 1932. He is the son of Saudi Arabia's founder, King Abdulaziz Ibn Saud, and his mother is Hassa bint Ahmed Al Sudairi. Salman is one of the sons of King Abdulaziz who plays an important role in the government of the country.

Salman was educated in Saudi Arabia and abroad. He studied at the Prince's School in Riyadh and then entered the Institute of Public Administration. He also received military training at a military school in Riyadh.

In terms of political career, Salman has held various important positions in the Saudi government. He served as governor of Riyadh province from 1963 to 2011, making him one of the longest serving governors in the country's history. During his tenure, he played a key role in overseeing developments in the capital, Riyadh.

In 2011, following the death of his brother, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Salman was crowned as Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. As crown prince, he became deputy prime minister and continued to wield significant influence in state affairs.

In January 2015, when King Abdullah died, Salman ascended the throne and became King of Saudi Arabia. His reign was marked by a number of important developments and reforms in the country.

Under King Salman's leadership, Saudi Arabia is continuing its efforts to diversify the economy through its Vision 2030 plan. This initiative aims to reduce the country's dependence on oil revenues, promote private sector growth and develop sectors such as tourism, entertainment and technology.

Salman's reign also witnessed several social reforms. Women's rights have seen gradual improvements, including the lifting of the ban on women driving and better access to education and employment opportunities. However, Saudi Arabia continues to come under scrutiny over human rights issues and restrictions on freedom of expression.

Internationally, King Salman has played an influential role in regional affairs, particularly with regard to the Middle East.
