Mark Rutte, born on February 14, 1967, in The Hague, Netherlands, is a prominent Dutch politician who has served as the Prime Minister of the Netherlands since October 14, 2010. Rutte is a member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), a centre-right liberal party in the Netherlands, and he has led the VVD since 2006.
Rutte studied history at Leiden University, where he earned his master's degree in 1992. He then worked for several years in the business sector before entering politics. Rutte joined the VVD in 1988 and quickly rose through the ranks of the party, serving in various roles before being elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) in 2003.
As an MP, Rutte gained a reputation as a skilled debater and a pragmatic politician with a focus on economic issues and fiscal responsibility. He served as State Secretary for Social Affairs and Employment from 2002 to 2004 and as State Secretary for Education, Culture, and Science from 2004 to 2006.
