Romelu Menama Lukaku is a footballer in the striker position who was born in Antwerp, Belgium, on May 13, 1993. He started his career by joining a local team, Koninklijke Rupel Boom Football Club before joining Leirse in 2003.

Club Career

Lukaku has been successful in showing impressive performances and has made him the target of many big European teams. One of these teams was Anderlecht who then pulled him into the team to play in the Belgian Pro League tournament in 2006.

Lukaku continues to show impressive performances on the field and is considered worthy of playing as a professional player at the age of 16. He became the top scorer in Belgium in the 2009-2010 season during his career at Anderlecht and led his team to win the Belgian Championship.

In addition, Lukaku was also awarded the Belgian Ebony Shoe in 2011. In 2011 Lukaku joined the team that plays in the Premier League tournament, Chelsea, and signed a five-year contract with the management. In early January 2014 Lukaku was again awarded The Guardian award as one of the ten most talented young players throughout Europe.

At the age of five, Lukaku joined local team Rupel Boom, a Belgian team competing in the third division tournament. After four seasons playing for Rupel Boom, Lukaku's talent and ability caught the attention of team management Lierse SK, a Belgian team that competed in the Belgian Pro League tournament.

The Antwerp-born striker also joined the Lierse SK youth squad. Two years spent by Lukaku at the club from 2004 to 2006, managed to contribute 121 goals in the 68 matches he played.

After Lierse suffered relegation in the Belgian Pro League standings, Lukaku left the team and joined Anderlecht and played for three years in the youth squad and scored 131 goals in 93 matches.

After three years playing in Anderlecht's youth squad, in May 2009 Lukaku signed a three-year contract as a professional player for Anderlecht. Eleven days after signing the contract, Lukaku made his debut by playing in the Belgian First Division tournament against Standard Liege.

In that match Lukaku came off the bench in the 69th minute to replace Victor Bernardez. His first goal as a professional came in the match against Zulte Waregem after coming on in the 69th minute to replace Kanu.

In August 2011 Lukaku joined Chelsea after agreeing a transfer fee of € 12 million. Lukaku was given the number 18 jersey and signed a five-year contract with the Premier League team's management.

His debut for Chelsea was in the game against Norwich City, where he came on in the 83rd minute to replace Fernando Torres. Starting in ten games for Chelsea, Lukaku then joined West Bromwich on a long-term loan.

In 2013 Lukaku admitted to the media that he still wanted to join West Bromwich and be part of the team's history. However, the Chelsea management did not grant this wish because the following season Lukaku was loaned to Everton.

However, Lukaku was able to become the team's top scorer in the 2012-2013 Premier League tournament and was ranked as the sixth top scorer during the season with 17 goals he scored.

On the final day of the 2013 summer transfer window, it was announced that Lukaku would be on loan again and this time to join Everton. His debut for the team from Merseyside began by playing in the match against West Ham United and scoring one goal which led his team to win with a final score of 3-2.

In the summer of 2019, Romelu Lukaku decided to leave Manchester United and accepted Inter Milan's proposal. Lukaku joined Inter Milan on 8 August 2019 after signing a 5 year contract. One of the factors that made Lukaku leave Manchester United was because he was made a scapegoat with Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez, besides that the club could not protect him from rumors about his future.

Romelu Lukaku made his debut for the Nerrazuri against Lecce in a league game scoring one goal. Even though it was still his first season with Inter Milan, Lukaku managed to score a lot of goals with his partner, Lautaro Martinez. However, Lukaku was still unable to provide a trophy for Inter Milan in his first season even though he managed to qualify for the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League final, but Inter Milan had to lose 3-2 to Sevilla.

In the 2020/21 season, Lukaku was the top scorer in Serie A with 24 goals and 11 assists while also helping Inter Milan to win Serie A.

On 12 January 2021, Lukaku rejoined Chelsea after a decade when he first joined Chelsea. Lukaku immediately scored a goal on his debut when he met Arsenal with a score of 2-0 victory for Chelsea.

Despite having recently joined Chelsea, Lukaku is reportedly unhappy with the situation at Chelsea after head coach Thomas Tuchel changed the system there and he hopes to return to Inter Milan in the near future. But some time later, Lukaku apologized for his disappointment with Tuchel.

In May 2014, Romelu Lukaku was called up for the first time by the Belgian senior squad to take part in the 2014 World Cup. Despite the unsatisfactory results, Lukaku was still called up to take part in the UEFA Euro 2016.

In 2018, Lukaku and the Belgian national team managed to qualify for the semi-finals at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but Belgium had to beat Croatia with a score of 2-1. Even so, Belgium managed to take third place after beating England with a score of 2-0.

On 10 October 2019, Lukaku with the Belgian national team seemed to have a smooth road at the Euro 2020 championship after conceding only 1 goal from the group stage to the round of 16.
