The Terrible Historical Message Behind the Starbucks Logo

Starbucks posted a picture of a mermaid holding her two tails. The female figure is half human and half fish. Greek mythology refers to the logo as the Siren.

Sirens are famous for seducing sailors who are sailing at sea with the loudest catchy songs.

In addition to these myths, it turns out that the Siren symbol has a pretty terrible meaning. Siren means obsession, addiction and death.

Citing the cracked.com page, the Starbucks blog said the Siren logo was chosen because the company was looking for a theme that could capture the spirit of Seattle. Looking back in 1971, Seattle was then known for its cruises and harbors rather than a hub for rock grubge, rain, and hipster.

In Greek mythology, the Sirens are consistently seen as the persinification of the ocean. And it's not always a good name.

They are described as brutal sociopaths who kill you for finding yourself attractive. According to experts, they sing a song so sweet that the body and soul of the listener will be led to a fatal death.

The sailors who happen to be in the path of the Siren will immediately become obsessed and do not realize that the ship is heading to the rocks and is ready to await their death.

In today's life, many people are similarly easily seduced by the lure of expensive coffee. Buying cup after cup until finally giving up. Unknowingly they have become loyal customers and money is running out for cups of coffee.
